Clients also receive clothing, hygiene items, diapers and housewares. Every visitor meets with a Client Service Specialist to assess their particular situation. Clients are screened for programs like SNAP (food stamps) and applications are completed, if applicable. Clients are also given appropriate referrals. Additionally, we offer employment resources by way of updated job postings, access to a computer classroom and an agent from Heartland Workforce Solutions, and employers who come in to promote employment opportunities. At Thanksgiving, we provide families with whole turkeys and all the fixings for a holiday feast. At Christmas, parents can register to receive brand-new toys for their children, along with wrapping paper, stocking stuffers and a holiday meal pantry. We also have a community garden at our main pantry.

We are not a food bank, yet we feed thousands upon thousands of hungry people every day. Our trucks and drivers are on the road six days per week, beginning at 6:30am, collecting an average of 6,000 pounds of excess perishable food daily from restaurants, resorts, caterers, grocers and various food purveyors – food that would otherwise be thrown away. We deliver the food the same day to more than 100 diverse agencies that feed the hungry including schools, after-school programs, daycare centers, rehabilitation centers, transition homes and senior facilities.

Marion-Polk Food Share is the regional food bank leading the fight to end hunger in Marion and Polk counties. Support from our local community makes it possible for the Food Share to collect and distribute nutritious food to more than 100 partner programs, including food pantries, meal sites, foster homes, shelters and senior housing sites. Every month, thousands of people, including parents, children, seniors and veterans, receive emergency food through the Food Share partner network. The Food Share also supports community gardens, vocational training opportunities and other programs to address the root causes of hunger.

For over 100 years, the Utah Food Bank has stayed true to its mission of serving those in need throughout our state. We work tirelessly with community partners and volunteers to continue making an impact. Utah Food Bank staff, volunteers and agencies work together to gather and distribute emergency food to individuals and families experiencing the pain of hunger in Utah. The organization started in 1904 and, since 1977, Utah Food Bank has been the central hub for food collection and distribution in Utah. Our resources include a large warehouse, four semi-tractors, and eight box trucks, as well as our valuable affiliation with Feeding America. With these resources, Utah Food Bank is able to collect, store and distribute large quantities of food for the entire state of Utah.

It is the largest hunger-relief organization and the only Food Bank in our four-county region. Our mission is to alleviate hunger by obtaining and distributing food and other essentials in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee Counties. The Food Bank provides 400 very active pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior housing, and low-income day-care centers with large quantities of food from name brand manufactures and USDA commodities on a daily basis. We also operate various mobile food pantries throughout our service area and assist pantries that provide backpacks to hundreds of children on the weekend. The backpacks are disbursed to qualifying children on Friday afternoon by various schools.

The food bank serves as a central collection and distribution center for donated, rescued and solicited food and grocery product. We provide bakery, produce, dairy, non-perishable products and ready-to-eat meals to non-profit and faith based organizations who serve those in need in our community. We also facilitate childhood and senior nutrition programs as well as supplemental nutrition assistance outreach and advocacy efforts. We are a place for members of the community to meet, serve and collaborate as part of the food solution.

Alameda County Community Food Bank https://tst.sanaazmeh.com/charitie/alameda-county-community-food-bank/ Sat, 05 Dec 2020 03:26:35 +0000 https://tst.sanaazmeh.com/charitie/alameda-county-community-food-bank/ Through a network of 275 community based organizations, including food pantries and soup kitchens, the Food Bank has provided food assistance to 49,000 people each week, including low-income and working poor adults, children, and the elderly, since 1985. In addition to food distribution, the Food Bank educates the community about the causes of hunger and poverty, advocates for policies to address the root causes of poverty and operates an emergency food referral hotline.
