On May 1, Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte became one organization. Every day, our newly merged organization provides the full spectrum of services to 1,000 individuals. From street outreach, to basic services, to shelter, to permanent housing, anyone that experiences homelessness in our community will likely touch at least one of our services.

Enhancing the permanent collections is an active schedule of changing exhibitions and education programs. The MMCD features a permanent collection documenting contemporary studio craft, tracing the movement’s historical roots in the 19th century and its relationship to traditional decorative arts and industrial design.

Founded in 1994, TROSA is now the largest licensed residential therapeutic community in North Carolina and is widely respected for its innovative therapeutic and entrepreneurial approach to the pervasive issue of substance abuse. Key elements of the two-year program include vocational training, education, communication, peer counseling, mentoring, leadership training and aftercare.

Since 1919, individuals, families, and organizations have sought our expertise to improve the quality of life in Forsyth County, its surrounding areas, and beyond. Our vision is for a generous and trusting community where everyone is thriving. Our mission is to inspire giving and link resources to action, strengthening Forsyth County – now and forever. Our values are inclusion, accountability, and continuous learning. We offer community leadership, grantmaking, philanthropic services, and student aid for our community. At the end of 2019, the Foundation had assets of more than $606.5 million. In 2019 we granted $58.4 million to charitable causes, $2.1 million of which was through the Community Grants program, and in 2019, we awarded more than $1 million in scholarships for local students.

Since 1967, the Rescue Mission has been actively involved in meeting the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of destitute people. Through programs offered, the Mission is able to reach out and effectively care for over 100 men each day, enriching men’s lives with nurturing and recovery services. Such services and programs provide clients with shelter, food, clothing, and personal-care items, along with job training, Christian counseling, work therapy, and life-skills and financial management classes.

The USO of NC provides more than 600,000 service connections annually, helping our troops and their families through education, wellness, transition assistance, resiliency & wounded warrior, military & family support programs across the state. With seven major military installations, North Carolina has the fourth largest demographic of active and reserve duty components in the country. USO of NC has ten centers statewide, three satellite offices and a mobile center.
